Learn to make your own cyanotype photograms from botanicals whilst exploring the history of one of the earliest photographic processes in the picturesque old style village of Redcross, Co. Wicklow.

Cyanotype is a 19th Century photographic printing process that was invented in 1842 by Sir John Herschell. It uses a combination of two safe chemicals, Ferric Ammonium Citrate and Potassium Ferricyanide. When mixed and exposed under UV light, it produces a Prussian-blue coloured print.

Participants will learn about the cyanotype process from start to finish and will be given the opportunity to produce prints from botanicals on water colour paper to take home. We will also look at toning cyanotypes and how the process can be used with a variety of materials.

This is a beginner friendly workshop, so whether it is your first-time printmaking, or you wish to build upon existing creative practices, everyone is welcome.

This workshop will equip you with the skills to continue to print with the cyanotype process at home. Tea, coffee and cake will be provided to participants on the day.
